Being Missional in everyday life

I just read this article and thought that the ideas were great and wanted to pass it on.  It gives great ideas of how to be reaching out to others in our everyday lives by making slight changes to things that we are already doing.  I think that is key!  Obviously there are significant life changes that we can make, but I think that adding intentionality to our current activities is a great way to start and it is probably more sustainable over a longer period of time.

  1. Yes, I like this article too. I'm trying to think about who to invite to do activities together and who to meet and pray for. I want to get better at inviting friends and co-workers to eat together and play games together.

These things also remind me of the practicality of living close to the church location. One of the obstacles I constantly feel in inviting people around me to church is, "why should they come with me when there are other churches close by to attend?" I think there are numerous churches within walking distance of my house and the church I attend and belong to is almost a 40-minute drive. I'm praying about if I should move, and where, and for what purpose?

I also found that walking can be great--I had a good time walking to different places that I normally drive to when my license was suspended. A blessing in disguise!

  2. Good and helpful article! Being missional could be a life-style, rather than a duty or “checklist”.
I want to try the ways.

  3. I like the point he makes about there being 3 meals in a day. I barely have one meal a day with someone especially while I am at work. I feel like the culture at my job is if you can eat while working it is a good/efficient thing to do. Some people seem to be open to breakfast or dinner though.
One thing I try to do, is invite people I have met into my life to do things with my friends in addition to spending time with them one on one. I feel like I can handle focusing on a few people well, but I have not quite gotten down being missional towards people I would probably never see again (travelling) although I have had some experiences that would counteract that. .
